⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rich, Savory, and Just the Right Spice! Onsen Japanese has once again confirmed its place as my go-to ramen spot! This is my second visit, and I can confidently say this restaurant never disappoints a true ramen lover. My first visit was for the Onsen Tonkotsu Ramen (the original, which I loved for its rich, aromatic pork broth), and I was so impressed I had to come back. This time, I tried the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen for $19.50, and I highly recommend it. For those who enjoy a kick but don't want overpowering heat, this is perfect. The spice level is just right—it enhances the dish without masking the core umami flavour of the slow-cooked tonkotsu broth. The soup is, admittedly, on the richer and slightly oilier side, typical of a true, deeply concentrated tonkotsu, but the overall flavour profile is fantastic. The noodles are cooked perfectly, offering a great firm texture that complements the dense broth. The atmosphere of the restaurant is excellent, too. It’s cozy and inviting, capturing the down-to-earth vibe of an authentic Japanese ramen bar. I visited during lunchtime, and it wasn't too crowded, which made for a very relaxing experience where I could fully savour my bowl. If you are looking for high-quality ramen with rich, delicious broth and a comfortable setting to escape the city bustle, make sure to visit Onsen Japanese. It’s definitely worth the price and the experience. I will certainly be back for a third visit!
Excellent Japanese food and definitely my Go-To in Melbourne. Ramen is absolutely delicious, great karage chicken and their katsu curry is on point as well. Service is super quick and efficient. Would highly recccomend!
I found Onsen Japanese Restaurant through TikTok and it definitely did not disappoint. My friends and I ordered three dishes to share, and the portions were very generous super filling and great for sharing. The atmosphere felt very authentic, like stepping into a traditional Japanese restaurant. The food was even better than expected, especially the curry rice, which was incredibly flavorful and aromatic. Everything we tried was delicious. I really enjoyed my experience here and would definitely recommend it. I’d happily come back again.
